Fred Warrecker, a Santa Barbara native and the father of six sons is entering his 36th year as head coach of the SBHS Dons Baseball program.
Coach Warrecker began his career at SBHS in the fall of 1971. As an English teacher AND baseball coach, he earned a reputation for talking about Aristotle, Montaigne and Melville in the morning and Gherig, Koufax and Robinson in the afternoon.
This blend of "personal heroes" has lead to his on field philosophy of character and conduct resulting in notable success for his teams. Along with his fellow coaches, he has guided the Dons to 8 Channel League Championships in the last 10 years, including a game in Dodger Stadium for the 2000 CIF championship.
Fred is a three time Coach of the Year and the 2002 Santa Barbara Athletic Roundtable Coach of the Year.
Coach Warrecker enjoys reading, music and the beach and spends his off seasons in Honolulu Hawaii.
